It is understood that several years ago a collection box was located in the village shop for raising funds towards a bus shelter. This collection resulted in £350 being given to the Parish Council “to be put towards a bus shelter” This £350 has appeared in the accounts for the Parish Council for many years as being ring fenced for this eventuality.
It has become increasingly clear that with the removal of most of the bus services here in Felsham and in many other rural parishes, that there is no realistic possibility of the local council providing a bus shelter in the near future.
The parish council have proposed that this £350 be taken into the budgeted reserve account for the provision of a village sign. This is a project close to the heart of many people judging by the positive responses from the Parish Plan and the Village Sign reserve fund already holds money left over from the Jubilee Party, some personal donations and money allocated by the parish council. We are still some way raising the total amount needed but have made a good start.
We would like to ask if anyone has any objections to the £350 bus shelter money being used for a village sign, so if you have reason to think we should not go ahead with this then please let us know.
Please contact the chairman, Simon Garrod or the clerk Paula Gladwell if you have any objections to this proposal as soon as possible as the parish council will make a resolution based on this at their June meeting.
